Auf diesem Spaziergang erzähle ich Euch von Stundenhotels, heimlichen Zeichen und Treffpunkten, Maria Theresias Keuschheitskomission, Casanovas Abenteuer in Wien, Skandalen, Strafen für- und Resozialisierung der Hübschlerinnen, Schönheits- Potenz- und Verhütungsmitteln, ledigen Müttern und ihren Kindern - und wann endlich die verbotene Liebe nicht mehr verboten war.

Romantik und Biedermeier am „Berg“: Einst das verruchteste Viertel Wiens außerhalb der Stadttore, heute ein liebevoll revitalisiertes Biedermeierareal mit zahlreichen Restaurants, Cafés und Bars mit idyllischen Gastgärten, versteckt in romantischen Hinterhöfen. 

Rund 2.000 Jahre nach den Römern leben zwei Millionen Menschen in Wien. Die Überreste der letzten zwei Millennia findet man aber weiterhin - unter der heutigen Stadt.
 
In der Wiener Altstadt schlendern wir durch die romantischen engen Gassen und wissen oft gar nicht, dass es darunter ein unterirdisches Wien gibt. Oben Glanz und Gloria - unter der Oberfläche: 3-oder-mehr-stockwerk-tiefe Keller, Kapellen und Katakomben, Kanalisation,  Gänge und Gemäuer, Beautysalons, Weinkeller, Eventlocations, Luftschutzanlagen, Theater … 
Dieser Spaziergang ist leider nicht barrierefrei.

1873, vor 150 Jahren, fand in Wien die Weltausstellung statt - die erste im deutschsprachigen Raum, es war eine Schau der Superlative und Wien präsentierte sich als moderne Weltstadt.  
Bei einem Spaziergang vom Riesenrad zum Konstantinteich und weiter zur Trabrennbahn und dann zurück durch das Viertel Zwei und den WU Campus und das Messegelände zeige ich Euch, was damals wo geboten wurde. Wer stellte aus und wer kam zu Besuch? Was waren die  Publikumsmagneten und was ist davon noch zu sehen? Und was wurde in den letzten Jahren auf diesem vielseitigen Areal gebaut? Altes und Neues, Geschichte und G’schichteln.  ​

Im Uhrenmuseum  in einem Alt-Wiener Innenstadthaus, dem Palais Obizzi, ist eine der bedeutendsten Uhrensammlungen Europas zu sehen. Ich zeige Euch das Turmuhrwerk von St. Stephan, astronomische Kunstuhren, eine Taschensonnenuhr, Marie von Ebner-Eschenbachs Taschenuhren, Kuckucks- Blinden- Kommodenstand- Flöten- und Laterndluhren, Zappler, Bilderuhren und und und - die ganze Vielfalt der exquisiten Sammlerstücke. (Das Museum ist Mo und Di geschlossen.)
Danach machen wir einen kleinen Spaziergang zum Hohen Markt und bewundern um punkt 12 Uhr den Reigen der historischen Persönlichkeiten auf der Ankeruhr: der großen Kunstuhr, die der Künstler Franz Matsch im Jugendstil für eine Versicherung angefertigt hat.
 

Rundum erneuert wurde das Museum im Sept. 2022 wiedereröffnet. Ich werde Euch durch die Sammlung im Josephinum, dem klassizistischen Palais im Universitätsviertel führen: Medizingeschichte in sehr interessanten und aktuellen Zusammenhängen und die Wachsmodelle in ihren originalen Vitrinen aus Rosenholz und mundgeblasenem Glas - ein Gesamtkunstwerk aus dem 18. Jahrhundert.  Im Bild die Mediceische Venus. Mo + Di geschlossen.

A very varied and beautiful walk through the garden city and its park, past

Villas of celebrities, at embassies and artist domiciles, to the observatory, to the Paulinenwarte and to the

Lakes in the Türkenschanzpark.

and is, I describe with biographies of the former residents. - In the 1970s they did

Artists F. Hundertwasser and A. Brauer thought about the buildings in which one feels comfortable and which ones should be placed

BOKU in innovative timber construction was awarded the Green & Blue Building Award in 2021. -

For many, the Türkenschanzpark is the most beautiful park in Vienna, in any case it is the park that is at the

In Wien gehen wir ins Kaffeehaus wie in ein zweites Wohnzimmer. Außer Kaffee trinken wollen wir dort: alleine sein, Zeitung lesen, arbeiten, Freunde oder Kollegen treffen, Interviews geben, sehen und gesehen werden, Karten spielen, essen,...  Begleitet mich auf einen Kaffeehaus-Spaziergang, bei dem wir nachvollziehen, warum die Wiener Kaffeehauskultur seit dem Jahr 2011 immaterielles Weltkulturerbe im Sinne der UNESCO ist.

Wir treffen uns in der Berggasse 19 wo ich Euch Sigmund Freuds Wohnung und Praxis zeigen will, beides wurde im Jahr 2020 neu renoviert, umgestaltet und erweitert.  
 
Danach spazieren wir durch das Paris Wiens, zur Servitenkirche, wo wir - wenn sie geöffnet ist -die Peregrinikapelle besuchen (der heilige Peregrinus Laziosi, ein Servit, der in Italien um das Jahr 1300 lebte und wirkte, hilft bei allen Fußleiden, Rheuma, Gicht und Krebserkrankungen). Weiter zu Franz Schuberts Schule. Dann erzähle ich Euch vom jüdischen Leben im Servitenviertel; wenn es möglich ist, werden wir auch den alten jüdischen Friedhof in der Seegasse sehen.
 

3 hours vacation in Vienna, for everyone who likes cycling or wants to get going again. Also as a gift for a loved one who needs a little break. see what's new on Rathausplatz.

Let us look together at the 800-year-old coronation robes and the  Imperial insignia
